The Recipes of Ghana
The Republic of Ghana, whose name means "Warrior King" was pre-colonial times, inhabited by a number of ancient kingdoms, including the Ga Adangbes on the east coast, the inland Empire of Ashanti and various Fante states along the coast and inland .
Ghana is a very productive agricultural land and is the world's third largest producer of cocoa. Fishing is also an important part of the Ghanaian economy and many dishes based on fish. Native plants such as bananas,Avocados, grapefruits, mangoes, papayas, coconuts and bananas are also appreciated and used in kitchens in the country. Chillies are also an important part of Ghanaian cuisine and provides important vitamin C in the diet. Another feature of the Ghanaian cuisine is the use of hard-boiled eggs as a garnish.
Here are two traditional Ghanaian recipes for your enjoyment:
Steamed Black-eyed Bean Dumplings
Ingredients:
Black-Eyed Beans 300g
1 tablespoon tomatoPaste
1 / 2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon ground crayfish or crabs optional
1 Maggi cube
1 onion, finely chopped
2 Hot Chili eg Scotch Bonnet
120ml peanut oil
1 / 2 teaspoon curry powder
Method:
To prepare the Black-Eyed Beans: Soak the beans overnight. Drain the beans, then mash them to leave the next day slightly with a rolling pin or potato masher, loosen the skin. Rub the beans between your hands to strip down to the skin. Add to a pot with plenty ofWater. Vortex to loosen the skins and allow them to rise above the water. Just add more water and can flow to the skins. Continue rubbing the beans, and raise the skin away, until the skin is gone.
Combine the beans, onions, tomato paste, chilli and salt in a mortar and pestle or a food processor and pound to a smooth paste. Add the shrimp, when used in powder, curry powder and the Maggi cubes then mix in the bean paste. Wrap 2 tbsp of the mixture in bananaLeaves, corn cobs or parchment paper. Tie each package safely and in a steamer. Steam over boiling water for about 45 minutes, or until the dumplings are firm and hold together.
Okra with tomato and egg slices
Ingredients:
120ml peanut oil
4 tomatoes, chopped
300 g Okra, came and cut into rings
650 g cooked rice
1 onion, chopped
1 / 2 teaspoon hot chili powder
Salt to taste
4 hard boiled eggs,peeled
Method:
Heat the oil in a skillet or frying pan then add the onion, tomatoes, okra and chilli powder. With salt then bring to a boil, reduce to let a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally a little water if necessary.
Before serving, place 1 / 4 of the cooked rice on a plate, spoon the sauce over the rice then top with a boiled egg cut in half lengthwise.
It is almost impossible to give the true culinary tastes of a whole country in just two recipes.But I hope to awaken your curiosity enough for you to explore further the Ghanaian cuisine.

Korean Recipes
In recent years, many people in the West interested in Korean foods and recipes. You can try Korean food in a restaurant, or if you prefer you could try to prepare it at home in your own kitchen.
Korean meals are usually about pasta, rice, meat, vegetables and tofu-based products (known as "The Oak" in Korea). Most meals are served with a variety of side dishes ( "banchane"), as well as soup, steam rice and kimchi (fermented vegetables). Flavor is added by using a seriesIngredients and spices such as garlic, ginger, red chili paste ( "Gochujang"), salt, soy sauce and fermented soybean paste ( "Doenjang").
Some popular Korean dishes are:
* Kongnamul-guk - soya bean sprout soup.
* Gamjatang - a soup with pork and potatoes are based spine. It usually contains other vegetables, green onions, peppers and sesame seeds.
* Maeuntang - A hot and spicy fish soup.
* Jeongol - A fish and vegetable stew.
* Hoe cut - into thin slicesrawfish, similar to the Japanese sashimi. Usually dipped in wasabi and red chili paste ( "Gochujang"), and cellophane noodles ( "dangmyeon").
* Sannakji - A cold, very fresh baby squid, spiced and cut into pieces and served - it can still move on the plate!
* Ramyeon - Pasta with meat and vegetables, similar to Japanese ramen noodles.
* Kongnamul-bap - rice with bean sprouts.
* Japchae - potato noodles with beef, carrots, onions andSpinach.
* Kalguksu - Flat noodles in broth.
* Yukhoe - raw beef covered with egg yolk and seasonedwith garlic, spring onions and a variety of spices.
* Bulgogi - meat or fish are cooked on the grill. Common varieties of chicken ( "dak Bulgogi"), pork ( "dweji Bulgogi"), and octopus ( "ojingeo Bulgogi).
* Galbi - Grilled pork ribs.
* Dakgalbi - grilled chicken.
* Makchang - Grilled pork intestines (chitterlings like).
* Samgyeopsal - Grilled PorkStomach. Slices of meat are within salad with boiled rice and a spicy paste made ( "ssamjang"). Various side dishes such as chilli, spring onion salad or raw garlic dipped in ssamjang can be eaten with the peel.
